A few weeks ago we had a party to celebrate Knox’s birthday. It was a few weeks early so that Knox could have all of his favorite New York people attend. Any later and two of his little friends would have left New York for other states.
We decided to have a picnic in Central Park, given that our apartment really isn’t big enough for a kids party and its summer here. June can be rainy in New York but we were lucky that on the day we had nice warm weather and not a rain cloud to be seen!
We had a little hiccup because it was the National Puerto Rican Day Parade and we didn’t realize that they would close off a portion of the park, even though the parade was going down 5th Avenue, not through the park! This meant we had to change location to a spot overlooking a lake. Our new location was lovely and possibly even better than the spot we had originally planned. Not that we know for sure, because our original spot wasn’t one we’d been to before!
Knox was very lucky that he had so many people coming to celebrate his birthday and he enjoyed opening all the presents he was given. Thank you everyone for giving him such wonderful gifts!
We wanted Knox to have a home made cake for his party just like Tate did for his first birthday. So between Richard and I we managed to make a pretty special cake for Knox. I can take credit for baking the cake and ganaching the cake but the fondant and decoration was all Richard. Richard did an excellent job!
Knox was a little bit unsure of eating the cake to begin with. But once I’d given him a little taste there was no going back and he loved it!
Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated Knox’s birthday. You made it a very special day for him. And also thank you for your generous gifts!
You captured some cute little Knoxy smiles there. Looks like fun was had by all.
