This weekend was Labor Day in the US, so we decided to use the 3 day weekend to see a bit of the country. Or as we were selling it to Tate – the actual country. Tate was therefore looking forward to seeing the moon and stars. However the weather didn’t quite cooperate with him.
So, we headed to the Poconos which is located in Pennsylvania and only a short 2 hour drive away. Given that our little people are not exactly used to sitting in a car for long periods of time we decided to break up the drive there with a stop for apple picking. Tate was starting to get quite bored and frustrated in the car, so we arrived at a perfect time!
Longmeadow Farm in Hope, New Jersey was our choice for apple picking. Located an hour and 15 minutes from our house. Though the trip probably took about an hour and forty five minutes after a few wrong directions from the navigator (Me!).
Here’s a look at the fun the kids had picking apples:
After picking the apples it was time to pick one to enjoy before getting back in the car to continue on to the Poconos.
I think the apple picking would have to be one of the highlights of the trip for Tate. He loved eating the apples that he had picked for the rest of our trip away and I’m sure he’ll love to eat the left overs in the next week!
Excellent fun. It’s good to see the boys gnawing on their prized catch, lol.
Knox’s is almost as big as his head!
awww! Cuties..
The apple is actually the same one Tahnee but Knox holding it makes it look even bigger!
My girls loved apple picking when we went a while back. Looking forward to going again this fall 🙂
