The second day of our trip to Boston was spent doing things that the kids would love. After breakfast at Quincy Market we headed off to the New England Aquarium for a morning of fun with fishes. The kids were very excited about going to the Aquarium, especially considering they had only just watched Finding Nemo the previous weekend. They were hoping they would find a little Nemo at the Aquarium!
The first thing we saw when we entered the Aquarium were the Penguins. The kids loved looking at them. Hanging above a section of the aquarium was the skeleton of a whale. It tricked Tate into thinking it was a penguin skeleton. Would have been a giant penguin!
Part of the Aquarium was a big fish tank with a wrap around spiral ramp. It looked pretty cool from below and it was fun to be able to look down at all the fish below when you reached the top. Tate and Richard had fun at the top looking for the giant turtle we saw as we walked the ramp.
The kids loved seeing so many different types of fish: octopus, jelly fish, sea horses, turtles and so much more.
They even had some sections that were quite interactive for the kids. One section where rays were swimming around and the kids could put there hands in very still and they would swim against them. Unfortunately the water was just too deep for the kids to feel a ray. But they loved a section where they could feel starfish and sea anemones.
We had such a fun morning at the aquarium. Tate and Knox just love fish. I really wish that the New York Aquarium compared.
Next time you come visit us we’ll have to take a trip to Monterey Bay Aquarium. It’s such an amazing place. We haven’t visited the aquarium here in San Francisco yet but I’ve heard that it doesn’t quite compare to the one in Monterey.
Sounds wonderful Sally!!!!!
What fun! Land of the Giants. Lol.
I’m glad they got to touch the star fish.
