Holiday Train Show 2014

You may remember us heading to the Bronx Botanical Gardens Holiday Train Show on a beautiful snow covered day last year. It really suited the festive holiday activity we were enjoying.

This year we decided to head to the Holiday Train Show on the opening weekend. Unfortunately we weren’t lucky enough to have snow covered gardens, but nevertheless we had lots of fun checking out the show. Tate loved watching all the trains running along the tracks! It was often hard to pull him away so that he could check out the next train!

The holiday train show features over 150 iconic buildings made out of bark, leaves, and other natural materials. Trains whiz around the buildings on 400 metres of train track. There are some interesting trains too; including a lady bug train!

This year is the 23rd annual holiday train show and you can tell it is a popular annual tradition. Last year we went during the week and it wasn’t too busy. Going on the opening weekend was a totally different experience! We waited for a long time in line (despite buying tickets for viewing at a particular time slot) and then when we were ‘in’, we still had to wait in line some more before we got to see all the trains and buildings.

Both Tate and Knox loved the train show. It was great to see how much Knox enjoyed it this year. He loved watching all the trains, plants and buildings.
