Ueno Park

After our trip to the playground we headed to Shunjuku Station to meet a friend for lunch. We enjoyed a lunch of burgers and then decided to check out Shinjuku Goen (more on that in a later post). Little did we know that it was closed on Mondays. We arrived there and had to check the signs to work it out. Seems we weren’t the only ones not in the know! People were rocking up and promptly leaving.

So, instead of that we decided to head to a different park – Ueno Park. It is one of Japan’s first public parks and is home to quite a few museums (though we didn’t check any out).

Ueno Park is also home to the Pagoda of Kan’ei-ji. It is five stories high and was founded in 1625.

Tate and Knox had so much fun roaming the park and I was able to snap lots of cute photos!
