Every year on Easter Sunday there is an Easter Bonnet Festival on Fifth Avenue between 49th and 57th Streets in New York. People can wander along Fifth Avenue checking out people’s interesting hats. This annual event started in the mid 1800s when ladies would promenade showing of their fashionable attire after church but now seems to be somewhat of a competition to see who can come up with the weirdest hats!
