After having fun picking apples and taste testing, we hopped back in the car and continued heading towards the Poconos. First we had lunch in Stroudsburg – which gave the kids another little break and a chance to see one of the bigger towns.
While the kids napped in the car we then headed to Bushkill Falls. Bushkill Falls is a series of 8 waterfalls, the tallest one being over 30 metres high.
Knox woke up as we arrived at the falls so spent some time having a play around where we parked the car while we waited for Tate to wake up.
Once Tate was awake we headed to the entrance to the falls. Before getting to the ticket booth you have to walk past a lake, mini golf, children’s playground and more. Lots of activities to engage kids and also empty parents wallets at the same time!
Bushkill Falls has been nicknamed “The Niagara of Pennsylvania”. It is privately owned by the Peters family and has been open to the public since 1904.
Given that we had Knox’s in the carrier and Tate walking we decided to take the 15 minute trail to the main falls, although once inside we decided to change to another trail a little way in to make sure we got a really good view of the falls.
Let’s take a look:
Tate did an excellent job walking around the waterfall, especially given there were A LOT of steps up and down. He didn’t once complain about being tired and enjoyed climbing up and down the steps. I asked him if his legs were tired towards the end and he said no. That surprised me given my knees where feeling it. He did such a good job!
Bushkill Falls was lovely and my guess would be that it was one of Knox’s favourite parts of the weekend. He loves anything to do with water, so this was perfect for him.
