The day after Tate’s birthday party we headed to the Dumbo Arts Festival. The Dumbo Arts Festival is a free event which includes outdoor and indoor visual art installations and exhibitions, poets, dancers and performers throughout Dumbo both in galleries and on street corners and in the park.
Last year we attended on the Saturday and got to see the parade in action, which was pretty cool. This year we went on the Sunday because we had something much more important to do on the Saturday.
Once we arrived in Dumbo the first stop was to Jane’s Carousal. No trip to Dumbo is complete, at least for kids, unless they have ridden the carousel. Tate is an old hand at carousels and loves them. Knox however got to experience his first carousel. I don’t think he was quite sure if it was fun or not!
By the time we’d finished at the carousel it was time for lunch, so we headed to an iconic Dumbo spot called Superfine. We were surprised by there being live music when we arrived. It was quite loud and not very conducive to having a chatty lunch but the kids loved it!
After lunch it was time to enjoy the Arts Festival and wander around Dumbo.
