As you all know, today is Halloween! The kids have been planning their costumes and talking about what would happen for a while now. So they were excited to get to the good parts of the day – handing out candy and trick or treating.
A few days beforehand Jamma helped them with a Halloween art project. They made spiders to decorate the house and they also hung one on the light outside our door.
After Knox woke from his nap, Tate and Knox got dressed in their outfits. They needed to be ready to great their trick or treaters in costume!
In previous years, not knowing how things work in our building, we had signed up for times that we would be available for trick or treaters at poor times. Despite buying lots of chocolate we found we only ended up with maybe half a dozen kids at our door.
This year we were a bit wiser and probably lucky Halloween fell on a Saturday. We signed up for a late afternoon and over dinnertime slot and found we got many more trick or treaters. It was so good to see the kids enjoying handing out candy to all our visitors. They loved it. In fact, Knox wasn’t really all that eager to go out later as he thought handing out candy was all there is to it!
Of course, it did get a tiny bit boring waiting in between each door bell ring, so the kids had to find something to do with their time!
After our time for receiving trick or treaters was over it was time to go trick or treating ourselves. Tate was super eager to get going and kept trying to leave the house before it was time. Knox, as I said before, really didn’t see the need to go!
Even though we only had an hour between the start of trick or treating and when the kids had to get back to get back to get ready to go to bed, the kids were able to go to at lest 20 apartments and fill their buckets to overflowing. I’m not sure how they are going to eat all this candy. Even with mummy and daddy’s help!
